Khwendo Kor

Khwendo Kor (KK), established and registered in 1993, is a non profit non governmental and non partisan organization. Khwendo Kor is a Pashto word meaning “Sister's Home”.

KK is drawing its strength from its partner communities and their active involvement in a need driven, participatory development processes.

Education

  • Provision of quality education to 13903Girls and 2245Boys in 388Community Based Schools & 9medal Schools

  • 778 female literate from 64 adult literacy centers

  • 249 teachers have been capacitated on basic teaching, multi grade and content wise

  • 276Village Education Committees are formed and strengthened with  membership:

        Female : (4279) Male: 1700

  • 94(1545) Parent Teacher Associations formed and strengthened

  • 102 Schools Sustained (handed over to Govt. community and philanthropists)

  • 2 District Education Committees are formed and functional

  • Letter of Understanding signed with Education Department- Dir and FATA Directorate

Primary Health Care

  • Total outstanding 46,14,619

  • Recovery rate is 96 %
  • Number of active loanees are 330
  • 696 women are capacitated in enterprise development, livestock management and technical skill training.
  • Monthly income of the women are Rs. 2500/- to 3000/- month
  • 67 home based nurseries are established by females and males
  • 36027 plantation by community
  • 13 interest group formed and functioning
  • Transformation of KK’s women micro-credit policy according to Islamic mode of financing
  • MIS developed for micro enterprise programme

Advocacy and Human Rights

  • 7 women elected in local bodies election in Dir and Karak
  • 17 Public dialogues organized covering 4050 population
  • 7 community based learning centers attended by 136 working girls and 68 working boy
  • 7 Government Schools selected for mitigating violence against children
  • 2,000 Children received child rights education in government schools and Center
  • A newsletter “POHA” was published on bi-annual basis to promote girls’ education.
  • A newsletter “Khabar De Para De Asar” publishes on monthly bases.
  • KK is member of different local, National and international networks like  Pakistan National Committee (PNC), Provincial Education Network (PEN), Beijing +10, Violence Against Women (VAW), Joint Action Committee (JAC), Gender Voices, Advocacy & Development Network (AND), Micro Summit International Network for Alternative Financial Institutions (INAFI), The Asian South Pacific Bureau of Adult Education (ASPBAE) and Pakistan National Forum (PNF).
