Khwendo Kor (KK) is a non profit, non government and non partisan organization striving for development of the women and children, strong families and communities progressive society . KK is a Pushto word meaning Sister's Home. The organization came into being in February 1993 and is registered under Societies Registration Act. 1860. KK drawing its strength from communities' active involvement in need driven development process through a participatory development initiative. |

Aim: Ensure vulnerable communities, especially women and children, are empowered to successfully claim their right to basic health and education.
· Disadvantaged groups, particularly women, attain basic levels of primary education and functional literacy on sustainable basis.
· Communities, especially women, play an active role in influencing government education and health policies and establishing and sustaining quality education and reproductive health services at the local level.
· Women have increased knowledge and capacity to access education and reproductive health facilities and services.

Thematic Area 3:
Sustainable Livelihoods |

Aim: Ensure that vulnerable communities, especially women and children, are capacitated to contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
· Women Economic status including household monthly income increased in KK working villages in NWFP and FATA.
· Female literacy and numeracy skills increased in KK working areas of the NWFP and FATA.
· Female vocational and entrepreneurial skills increased in KK working villages of the NWFP and FATA.
· Rural female entrepreneurs hand made products have an increased market at national and international levels.
· New NRM initiatives and alternative local sources explored and practiced by village women in KK working areas of the NWFP and FATA.

Organisational Strengthening |

Aim: To strengthen and improve KK’s governance, managerial and organisational capacity to effectively pursue its purpose and vision on a sustainable basis.
· A solid governance and executive management system, underpinned by a quality framework of standard policies and procedures.
· A diverse secure and sustainable resource base delivering and promoting high quality services and attracting financial resources at the National and International level.
· A highly skilled team, expert in all areas of governance, project management and development approaches are engaged and contributing to KKs vision at all levels.

Thematic Area 2: Good Governance |

Aim: Vulnerable communities, especially women and children, are empowered to play an effective role in improving local, provincial and national Governance.
· Community especially women and children are aware of basic human rights and enhanced their capacities to advocate for those rights in KK working districts in NWFP and FATA.
· Communities, especially women and children are empowered to demand their basic and human rights in KK working districts of NWFP and FATA.
· Positive changes will be made in the policy and practice of the provincial and federal government to improve the rights, security and living standards of vulnerable communities, especially women and children.
· The voice of vulnerable communities especially women and children will be strengthened to bring about participatory, people centred policy formulation processes in NWFP and FATA.
· Communities will have increased awareness of civic & political education and effective democratic practices in KK working areas of NWFP and FATA. | |

Thematic Area 4: Relief and Rehabilitation |

Aim: To provide effective and efficient responses to man-made and natural disasters.
· Government policy and practice strengthened to respond effectively to natural and man made disasters in NWFP and FATA.
· Communities especially women and children are better prepared to respond effectively and efficiently to natural and man made disaster in KK working villages of NWFP and FATA.
· KK’s emergency, relief and rehabilitation response manual is developed, approved and put into practice.
